Run On! and Panini America Present More Than $8,800 To Captain Hope's Kids From The Proceeds of the Annual Mardi Gras Run.
At a ceremony yesterday afternoon at Run On!, Bob Wallace, owner of Run On! was joined by Scott Prusha, Marketing Manager of Panini America, to present a check for $8,878.74 to Captain Hope's Kids from the proceeds of the annual Mardi Gras Run. Founded in 1989 Captain Hope's Kids is the only agency that actively solicits donations and funds for the sole purpose of providing critically needed supplies to homeless children throughout North Texas. The organization addresses the immediate needs of the many infants, toddlers and children struggling to survive and overcome the most difficult of circumstances during their most precious years.
The 2010 Mardi Gras Run had an All-Star twist as it partnered with NBA FIT and was included as an event at the NBA All-Star Jam Session presented by adidas. Additionally the Mardi Gras run added a youth race entitled the Panini Kids Run & Dribble which was a 1K fun run/walk where kids were encouraged to bring their basketballs and dribble through the streets of downtown Dallas. The addition was made possible by a donation of $10,000 from Panini America on behalf of Kobe Bryant.
Bob Wallace said, "The annual Mardi Gras Run is such a unique and fun event that we look forward to each year. Over the past few years we have moved the race because of some unique partnerships but when we had the opportunity to partner with the NBA we were really excited. They brought a lot of promotional elements to the run including the NBA FIT warm up and legends like AC Green and Jennifer Azzi to kick off the event."
Jeanne Reyer, Executive Director of Captain Hope's Kids said, "We are fortunate to have Run On! and Panini as sponsors of the Mardi Gras Run. We have had a number of years of successful partnership with Run On! as our presenting sponsor of the 5K and look forward to continuing our relationship with Panini as the title sponsor of our kids fun run/walk and our other great partners."
Scott Prusha, Marketing Manager of Panini North America said "We really enjoyed working with the organizers of the Mardi Gras Run to bring attention to such a worthy cause. With the help of Kobe Bryant, Panini is proud to be making this donation to Captain Hope's Kids. We hope the DFW area embraces Kobe Bryant for the day as together we make this donation."
The 2010 Mardi Gras Run celebrated its 13h year with a field of over 900 registered runners as well as a record snowfall for Dallas. The 2011 Mardi Gras Run is scheduled for Saturday, March 5th and the location and time is TBA.
