LEGENDARY CONTENDERS
BRETT FAVRE, QB - New York Jets (289 Passing Yards, 6 Touchdowns)
Cards to Grab - 1991 Action Packed Rookie Update #21, 1991 Pacific #551, 1991 Score #611
In 18 NFL seasons, Brett Favre has never thrown six touchdown passes in a single game. Yesterday Favre added that milestone to an already impressive resume by leading the Jets to a 56-35 win over the Arizona Cardinals. For you fantasy football fanatics, three were to Laveranues Coles and two were to Jerricho Cotchery.
LARRY JOHNSON, RB Kansas City Chiefs (198 Rushing Yards, 2 Touchdowns)
Card to Grab - 2003 Playoff Contenders #134
While the Chiefs have struggled out of the gate, they put together their best performance of the 2008 season, beating an impressive Denver Broncos team 33-19. Lead by LJ himself, the former elite back may be ready to take his rushing title back after running the ball for 198 yards, with one going for a 65-yard touchdown.
ROOKIE ROLL CALL
EDDIE ROYAL, WR - Denver Broncos (104 Receiving Yards)
Cards to Grab - Playoff Prestige #136, Donruss Elite #157, Donruss Classics #191, Score Select #364, Donruss Threads #255, Playoff Absolute #277 and Leaf Certified #227
Royal is making his second appearance on the Highlight Reel in just the fourth week of the NFL season. The Broncos’ offense has been on fire, averaging 38 points a game heading into the matchup with the Chiefs. Royal led the Denver offense with nine catches for 104 yards in the 33-19 loss.
DONNIE AVERY, WR - St. Louis Rams (22 Receiving Yards, 37 Rushing Yards, 1 Touchdown)
Cards to Grab - Playoff Prestige #132, Donruss Elite #155, Donruss Classics #187, Score Select #356, Donruss Threads #254, Playoff Absolute #283 and Leaf Certified #223
Avery may have been the first receiver taken in the 2008 NFL Draft, but his playing time has been limited in a struggling Rams offense. The former University of Houston standout scored his first NFL touchdown on Sunday - just the Rams' third of the year - in a 31-14 loss to the Bills.
ONES TO WATCH
ROBERT MEACHEM, WR - New Orleans Saints (99 Yards Receiving, 1 Touchdown)
Card to Grab - 2007 Playoff Contenders #213
The former first round draft pick was limited by injuries and did not see any action during the 2007 NFL season. The former Tennessee receiver has fought to get back into a pass happy offense lead by Drew Brees. Meachem caught his first NFL pass in Week 2, a 19-yard touchdown against the Redskins. He added to those totals against San Francisco, pulling in two catches for 99 yards, including a 52-yard touchdown.
