Phelps Phans Getting Their Own Gold?

Michael Phelps' Donruss cards are as good as gold. Literally...

As the world watched Michael Phelps become the most decorated Olympian in history, they were also clammering to find anything autographed of the swimming superstar. They were all met with one problem - there was very little out there.

Demand for Phelps autographs extremely outweighed the supply, vaulting the value of his ONLY certified autograph card, Donruss Fans of the Game, into gold status, too. The card is the only Phelps autograph card on the market, limited to just 300 copies or about six autographs per state (not to mention the rest of the world).

Prior to the Olympic games, the card could be picked up for about $15-$20 or roughly the same price as one ounce of silver. Currently, Phelps Phans can expect to shell out $950 to $1,000 for the card...

Which is approximately the same price as one ounce of solid gold!
