Max Scherzer Makes His MLB Debut

The Arizona Diamondbacks wasted no time putting the 23-year-old into the line of fire. Just days after announcing the former Mizzou hurler was getting the call, Scherzer made his MLB debut for the D'backs. He retired all 13 batters he faced with seven strikeouts. His fastball was clocked three times at 98 miles per hour.

It marked the first time since 1900 that a pitcher's major league debut in relief included four+ perfect innings. It was also the most strikeouts ever by a Diamondback in his debut.

And while the industry flocks to produce his rookie cards, as always, Donruss was a step ahead of the competition.
