ARLINGTON, TX - When Donruss loaded their new Americana product with an eclectic group of personalities including Hollywood legends like Humphrey Bogart, James Dean and Burt Reynolds plus pop-culture icons including William Shatner, Larry Hagman and Morgan Fairchild, many collectors barely noticed the impressive line-up of sports legends.

Mixed in among the likes of Willie Mays, Lou Gehrig, Patrick Roy and Larry Bird are a pair of tennis greats - Jim Courier and Martina Navratilova. Unfortunately, collectors have had to wait a month to get their hands on the Navratilova autographed cards because, due to her commitment to broadcast the Australian Open for Tennis Channel, she was unable to sign the 50 certified autograph cards before the product shipped. As a result, Redemption Cards were inserted into packs. Upon her return from Down Under, Navratilova signed the cards which are now being distributed to lucky collectors. According to Donruss, these mark the first Navratilova certified autographs to be offered in a mainstream trading card product.

In addition to the Navratilova base card and autograph card, collectors can uncover several different Courier cards. A base card, a sequentially numbered (to 500) version; a signature card and a Sports Legends Materials card featuring a swatch of clothing worn in a recent charity event.

Navratilova also provided Donruss with a piece of clothing, one she wore during a Grand Slam event that will be included in a memorabilia card in the company's next product, Donruss Celebrity Cuts coming out in April. "Donruss Americana is the most unique trading card sets ever produced because there is something for everyone," said Scott Prusha, Director of Marketing for Donruss.
